Snow Advisory In Effect For Parts Of Puget Sound

SEATTLE —

The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory for the Hood Canal area from 4 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday.

Chief Meteorologist Andy Wappler says rain will continue to fall throughout most of the Puget Sound with a chance of snowfall in Shelton and Everett and possibly on the eastside suburban hills.

According to the National Weather Service, a low pressure system and cold front will pass through Western Washington with low snow levels Wednesday night.

Snow showers are expected on and off throughout the night on the mountain passes with temperatures in the low 30s.

Temperatures throughout the area will be below normal throughout the weekend with a chance of snow or rain showers Saturday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said.

The first snow storm of the season rolled through Monday night blanketing the mountain passes and causing a rash of problems for motorists headed over the Cascades.

As the snow fell Monday night, a Washington State Trooper said he pulled over to assist a driver on the side of the road when another car spun out of control towards them. The said trooper he and the other driver had to run and jump over the guardrail to avoid being hit by the sliding car.

The patrol car was sideswiped, but no one was injured.

Interstate 90 was closed to eastbound traffic for a time Monday night because of a series of accidents and spinouts including jackknifed tractor-trailers.
