Snow, ice and fog greeted drivers Friday morning in a third straight day of hazardous weather. Icy roads caused scores of accidents across Western Washington.

Icy Accident Caught On Tape

A state DOT camera caught pictures of one accident on Interstate 5. A pickup truck slid and spun out of control at a spot near Alderwood, where road crews were working on an unrelated medical emergency. There was no immediate word on injuries. One northbound lane of traffic was blocked.

The Poulsbo Fire Department reported over a dozen crashes due to icy roads. No roads were closed, but fire officials urged extreme caution.

Snow was falling off and on all morning in Burien, likely playing a role in three different accidents on Highway 518. In one, a black Nissan slammed into a utility pole and caught fire.

On the Eastside, snow dusted a wide area. In the Eastgate area, there was about half an inch left on cars and lawns early Friday morning.

New snow remained a threat in the Cascade foothills and some light snow was falling in West Seattle at 5:30 a.m.

Snow fell at Sea-Tac in the early morning hours, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported. About 1 to 1 1/2 inches fell at the airport but runways were de-iced.

Heavy snow was giving ski operators in Western Washington a huge lift.

More than two feet of snow fell at Crystal Mountain, which opened Thursday -- the earliest opening there in nine years.
