SEATTLE —
As snow continues to accumulate in Seattle, plow and salt crews are working 12-hour shifts to keep the city's arterials clear, Mayor Mike McGinn told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News in a live interview.
McGinn said road crews are also focusing on bridges and on making sure emergency routes and access to hospitals are clear.
He noted the resources available to Seattleites on the city's website, where you can get a list of closures, an interactive traveler's map that shows where snowplows have been and a snowwatch site for localized snow prediction information.
The mayor wouldn't give the city a grade on its response to the snow, saying, "We just focus on doing the work."
He urged people who lose power not to bring a barbeque indoors, and he suggested that people who've stayed home should clear sidewalks and check on their neighbors.
