Some Snow Falls In Lowlands, At Passes



SEATTLE —

The first snow of the season was reported early Tuesday morning in some lowland areas of Western Washington, while snow was falling on mountain passes in the Cascades.

More than two inches of snow was reported at about midnight in Darrington, a KIRO 7 Eyewitness News viewer reported. Bellingham and Ferndale also reported snow. There was an inch on the ground in Lake Stevens.

A snow advisory in effect in northwest Whatcom County expired at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Snow fell just east of North Bend early Tuesday morning.

The KIRO 7 Pinpoint Forecast for Cascade snow showers Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service issued a snow advisory for the south Washington Cascades and the northern Oregon Cascades.

The advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday.

People in the affected areas -- which include Mount St. Helens -- can expect three to seven inches of new snow.
