Up To 18 Inches Of Snow Falls In First Fall Mountain Snowstorm

A winter storm warning for the west slopes of the Cascades ended Tuesday evening after more snow fell during the day in the season's first significant snowstorm.

Up to 18 inches of snow fell in the area near Stevens Pass, and Snoqualmie Pass got several inches.

Highway 2 over the mountains was slick but passable with a front-wheel drive vehicle, said reporter Rick Price Tuesday morning.

On Snoqualmie Pass, a KIRO 7 Eyewitness News crew came across an SUV that was flipped over.

"It was a four-wheel-drive truck just went past us on left side, caught water and he just started hydroplaning sideways, went off the road, flipped upside down, landed completely off the road," said Cindy Little, a witness.

The storm moves out Tuesday night, and Wednesday should be dry, said KIRO 7 meteorologist Sam Argier.
