Atlanta, GA -- (Sports Network) - Jason Elam banged in a 48-yard field goal with no time left on the clock, making up for an earlier missed attempt, to give Atlanta an exciting 22-20 victory over the Chicago Bears. Elam made five field goals for Atlanta (4-2), which matched last season's win total with its second straight victory. Rookie quarterback Matt Ryan was 22-for-30 for 301 yards and a touchdown. Roddy White caught nine balls for 112 yards and a touchdown in the victory. The Falcons are now in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South with Tampa Bay and Carolina. Kyle Orton was 26-for-43 for 286 yards and a touchdown for Chicago (3-3), which was coming off two consecutive victories against Philadelphia and Detroit, respectively. Rookie Matt Forte scored once and carried the ball 20 times for 76 yards, and Devin Hester ended with six catches for 87 yards. Chicago took a 20-19 lead with just 11 ticks left on the clock. However, the Falcons got the ball on their 44 with six seconds remaining and Ryan kept his composure. The rookie quarterback hit Michael Jenkins with a 26-yard pass on the left sideline at the Chicago 30 with one second to go, giving Elam a chance to redeem himself for an earlier miss. Elam's 48- yard attempt was perfect, giving the Falcons the narrow victory.Final Score: Houston 29, Miami 28 Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Matt Schaub's three-yard touchdown run with three seconds left in the contest sent Houston to a thrilling 29-28 victory over Miami at Reliant Stadium. Schaub finished 22-of-42 for 379 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Texans (1-4), who picked up their first win of the 2008 campaign. Andre Johnson led all receivers with 10 catches for 178 yards and a TD. Kevin Walter added 98 yards on four receptions. Steve Slaton picked up 58 rushing yards on 15 carries. Chad Pennington completed 19-of-25 passes for a pair of scores for the Dolphins (2-3), whose two-game win streak came to a crashing halt. In addition, Miami has never beaten the Texans in four tries since Houston's 2002 inception. Patrick Cobbs had three catches for 138 yards but two were for touchdowns. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams added rushing scores in defeat. Facing a five-point deficit, Houston's final drive might have ended on 3rd-and-10 from its own 36, but a potential game-ending interception was ruled an incompletion when replay revealed the ball hit the turf. Johnson then hauled in a 23-yard pass on fourth down, and after a spike, Schaub hit Walter for 30 yards to the Miami 11. Another Johnson catch brought the Texans to the three with 16 seconds remaining, but two incompletions brought up a 4th-and-2 with seven ticks left. Schaub then slipped up the middle and scored on a draw for the go-ahead score. Final Score: Indianapolis 31, Baltimore 3 Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Peyton Manning threw three touchdowns, including a pair to Marvin Harrison, and the Indianapolis Colts picked up their first victory at brand-new Lucas Oil Stadium with a 31-3 thrashing of the Baltimore Ravens. Manning completed 19-of-28 passes for 271 yards for Indianapolis (3-2), which has won two straight. Reggie Wayne led all Colts receivers with 118 yards on eight grabs and a score, while Dominic Rhodes rushed for 73 yards and a score on 25 carries. Starting tailback Joseph Addai carried the ball only twice for three yards and left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury. Joe Flacco, the 18th overall pick in last April's draft, connected on 28-of-38 throws for 241 yards and three interceptions for the Ravens (2-3), who have dropped three games in a row. Derrick Mason hauled in six balls for 70 yards and Ray Rice added 64 yards on seven receptions. Willis McGahee was limited to 18 yards on eight carries. Final Score: Minnesota 12, Detroit 10 Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Ryan Longwell's 26-yard field goal with just nine seconds to play led Minnesota to another late victory as the Vikings edged the Detroit Lions, 12-10. Last week, Longwell hit a 30-yard field goal with 13 seconds to play to lead the Vikings to a 30-27 win over New Orleans, and again he was called on late to win the game. Minnesota started with the ball at its own 20 and on a 2nd-and-20 play, benefited from a questionable pass interference call on Leigh Bodden that moved the ball 42 yards to the Detroit 26-yard-line. The team then rushed the ball four straight times to get into field goal range and Longwell's kick was true to give the Vikings the win. Gus Frerotte went 18-for-33 with 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Vikings (3-3), who have won their past two games. Bernard Berrian had five catches for 131 yards and a score. Adrian Peterson rushed the ball 25 times for 111 yards for Minnesota, which has won 11 straight at home against Detroit and 12 of the past 13 overall. Dan Orlovsky, making his first career start in place of an injured Jon Kitna, went 12-for-21 with 150 yards and a score while Kevin Smith added 62 yards on the ground for the Lions (0-5), who have lost six straight games dating back to last season. Calvin Johnson had four catches for 85 yards and a score for Detroit, which has not won in Minnesota since 1997. Final Score: New Orleans 34, Oakland 3 New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Drew Brees passed for 320 yards and three touchdowns and Reggie Bush had 75 all-purpose yards and two scores as the New Orleans Saints hammered the Oakland Raiders, 34-3, at the Louisiana Superdome. Brees finished 26-of-30 passing, while Aaron Stecker and Mark Campbell each scored a TD for the Saints (3-3), who rebounded from a 30-27 loss to Minnesota on October 6th. Rookie kicker Taylor Mehlhaff chipped in with a pair of field goals in the win. JaMarcus Russell struggled, completing only 13-of-35 passes for 159 yards, with an interception, for Oakland (1-4), which dropped its third straight game but first under Tom Cable, who was making his NFL head coaching debut after replacing the recently fired Lane Kiffin on an interim basis. Cable previously served as the Raiders offensive line coach. Sebastian Janikowski accounted for Oakland's only points with a 24-yard field goal. Final Score: NY Jets 26, Cincinnati 14 East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Thomas Jones rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns and added a scoring reception to lead the New York Jets over Cincinnati, 26-14, at the Meadowlands. Brett Favre completed 25-of-33 passes for 189 yards with a touchdown, but was intercepted twice for the Jets (3-2), who have scored 82 points in their last two wins. New York's Jerricho Cotchery led all receivers with eight catches for 85 yards. Ryan Fitzpatrick, starting in place of the injured Carson Palmer, threw for 152 yards on 20-of-33 completions and scored a rushing touchdown for the winless Bengals (0-6), who have not been the victor since the final regular- season contest of 2007, a 38-25 win over Miami. Chad Johnson had five receptions for 57 yards in the loss and Chinedum Ndukwe returned a fumble 15 yards for a touchdown. Final Score: Tampa Bay 27, Carolina 3 Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Jeff Garcia, starting in place of the injured Brian Griese, completed 15-of-20 passes for 173 yards and one touchdown as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pounded the Carolina Panthers, 27-3, to win a key NFC South matchup while exorcising some demons in the process. Carolina had won five straight over the Buccaneers in Tampa stretching back to 2002, and had won eight of 10 overall in the series before Sunday's loss. Warrick Dunn rushed for 115 yards on 22 carries for the Buccaneers (4-2), who rebounded from a three-point loss in Denver last week to pull into a three-way tie with Carolina and the Atlanta Falcons for first place in the crowded NFC South. Only one game separates first and last place in the NFC South, as New Orleans won on Sunday to move to 3-3. Earnest Graham gained 47 yards on two catches and added a rushing score for the Bucs, who scored early when Geno Hayes blocked a punt and ran it in for a touchdown. Jake Delhomme was picked off three times on 20-of-39 passing for 242 yards for the Panthers (4-2). Steve Smith had six catches for 112 yards, but the Carolina rushing attack was stymied, as DeAngelo Williams gained only 27 yards on 11 carries. Final Score: St. Louis 19, Washington 17 Landover, MD (Sports Network) - Josh Brown's 49-yard field goal as time expired led the St. Louis Rams to their first win of the season and made Jim Haslett a winner in his coaching debut with a surprising 19-17 victory over the Washington Redskins. Washington had taken a one-point lead on Clinton Portis' second touchdown of the game with 3:47 left, but St. Louis went to work with the ball at its own 24. Right before the two-minute warning and facing a 3rd-and-2, Marc Bulger connected with Donnie Avery for a 12-yard play. Then on 3rd-and-13, Bulger connected with Avery again, this time for 43 yards. The play was reviewed to see if Avery caught the ball, but the ruling on the field was upheld and St. Louis had the ball at the Washington 16-yard-line. Bulger then took a knee, but Richie Incognito was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for yelling at an official and the ball was moved back 15 yards. After Steven Jackson got a yard back, Brown lined up for the field goal and it was true to give the Rams and new head coach Haslett the win. Haslett got tagged as the interim coach for St. Louis a few days after Scott Linehan got the boot after a 31-14 loss to Buffalo in Week 4. Brown finished 4-for-4 on field goal attempts (51, 25, 44, 49) and hit an extra point while Jackson had 79 yards on 22 carries and added three receptions for 32 yards for the Rams (1-4), who had lost their last eight games. Bulger went 15-for-26 with 136 yards while Avery finished the game with four catches for 73 yards for St. Louis, which has won its last two games against Washington. Portis carried the ball 21 times for 129 yards along with the two scores and Jason Campbell went 18-for-26 with 208 yards for the Redskins (4-2), who were riding a four-game winning streak coming into the game. Final Score: Jacksonville 24, Denver 17 Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Denver Broncos, 24-17, at Invesco Field at Mile High. David Garrard finished 25-of-34 for 276 yards and one touchdown for the Jaguars (3-3). Jones-Drew registered 22 carries and also caught seven balls for 69 yards. Jacksonville has won three of its last four games and has a bye next week. Jay Cutler was 21- of-37 for 192 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception for the Broncos (4-2). Denver, which has dropped two of its last three contests, got a solid game from running back Michael Pittman, who gained 109 yards on 20 carries. Pittman got a lot of work because of a groin injury to Selvin Young. The Broncos also missed wide receiver Eddie Royal, who is hampered by an ankle injury. Brandon Marshall had nine receptions for 98 yards for the Broncos, who were hurt by three turnovers. Final Score: Arizona 30, Dallas 24 (OT) Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Sean Morey blocked a Mat McBriar punt in overtime and Monty Beisel scooped it up and dove into the end zone for the winning score, as Arizona edged the Dallas Cowboys, 30-24. After Nick Folk nailed a 52-yard field goal to send the game to overtime, Dallas won the toss and started from its own 22, but Tony Romo was sacked and fumbled on the first play. He got the ball back but two incompletions set up a punt from the 15. McBriar was swarmed by both Morey and Beisel for the easy score from three yards out. Kurt Warner was 22-of-30 for 236 yards and two touchdowns with an interception, while Steve Breaston hauled in eight catches for 102 yards and a score. Larry Fitzgerald also caught a TD, part of a five- catch, 79- yard performance for Arizona (4-2), which extended an impressive streak at home with its sixth straight win dating back to last season. The Cardinals have also defeated Dallas five of the last six times they visited Arizona. Romo hit on 24-of-39 pass attempts for 321 yards and three scores, while Marion Barber racked up 173 all-purpose yards -- 45 rushing and 128 receiving -- including a 70-yard TD catch. Patrick Crayton caught a 55-yard TD catch, one of three grabs for 84 yards for the Cowboys (4-2), who could ill afford a setback in the stacked NFC East. Dallas fell into a tie for second with the Washington Redskins, who were shocked at home by the St.Louis Rams earlier in the day to also fall to 4-2. The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants are tops in the standings with a 4-0 mark and host Cleveland Monday night. Final Score: Philadelphia 40, San Francisco 26 San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Donovan McNabb threw a pair of touchdown passes and David Akers kicked three fourth-quarter field goals, as the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for 23 points in the final period to beat the San Francisco 49ers, 40-26. McNabb, who eclipsed Eagles legend Ron Jaworski for the franchise-record in passing yards and attempts, completed 23-of-36 throws for 280 yards and one interception for Philadelphia (3-3), which had lost its last two games by a combined 10 points. Correll Buckhalter, starting in the place of the injured Brian Westbrook (ribs), rushed for 93 yards and one score on 18 carries. He also was a threat out of the backfield, catching a game-high seven passes for 85 yards. Rookie wide receiver DeSean Jackson accumulated 98 yards on six receptions for Philadelphia, which forced three turnovers in the final quarter. That included a 55-yard interception return by Juqua Parker for a TD in the final minute. J.T. O'Sullivan connected on 17-of-30 passes for 199 yards and two interceptions for the 49ers (2-4), who have dropped three straight. Frank Gore gained 101 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown, while Vernon Davis led all Niners receivers with 75 yards on six grabs. Final Score: Green Bay 27, Seattle 17 Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Aaron Rodgers threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns to give the Green Bay Packers a 27-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field. Rodgers completed 21-of-30 passes and ran for a score to lead the Packers (3-3), who ended a three-game losing streak. Ryan Grant rushed for 90 yards on 33 carries, and Greg Jennings hauled in five catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. The Packers outgained the Seahawks 313-177, as Green Bay limited Seattle to just 64 yards passing. The victors were also able to convert on 10-of-17 third down chances, while the Seahawks only went 4-for-11 in their opportunities. Charlie Frye, starting in place of an injured Matt Hasselbeck, passed for just 83 yards on 12-of-23 passing, while throwing for two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Seahawks (1-4), who dropped four of their opening five games for the first time since 2002, when they finished 7-9. John Carlson and Keary Colbert each had a touchdown reception, and Julius Jones ran for 44 yards on 12 carries. Hasselbeck missed Sunday's game with a sore right knee after injuring himself in last week's lopsided loss to the New York Giants. The quarterback was held out of practice all week and was not able to suit up for the match up. He was placed on the team's inactive list prior to game time. Final Score: San Diego 30, New England 10 San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Philip Rivers threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns as the San Diego Chargers dominated the New England Patriots, 30-10, exacting some revenge in a rematch of last season's AFC Championship game. Rivers hit on 18-of-27 pass attempts, and the Chargers' receivers stepped up in the absence of the team's top wideout, Chris Chambers, who was sidelined with an ankle injury. Vincent Jackson hauled in five passes for 134 yards and a score while Malcolm Floyd caught three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Antonio Gates grabbed Rivers' other scoring throw. LaDainian Tomlinson, who continues to battle a nagging turf toe injury, gained 74 yards on 20 carries and caught three passes for 44 yards, but much of his contribution came with the game already decided. San Diego (3-3) had stumbled in the early-going this season and was coming off a disappointing 17-10 loss to the Dolphins in Miami. However, with a Denver loss to Jacksonville earlier Sunday, the Bolts now sit only one game behind the Broncos for first place in the AFC West, with a road test against the AFC East-leading Bills next on the schedule. Matt Cassel struggled to generate an offensive threat, with eight of 12 possessions going for 20 yards or less. Cassel completed 22-of-38 passes for 203 yards, with an interception and a lost fumble, and he missed opportunities on drives that did progress down the field. Wes Welker had nine grabs for 73 yards while Sammy Morris scored a rushing TD for New England (3-2), which recovered from an ugly loss to Miami in Week 3 to defeat the 49ers coming off the bye week. Having now fallen into a tie for second with the New York Jets in the AFC East, the Pats will next host Denver on Monday night.
