SEATTLE -- A strong fall storm has snapped tree branches, caused power lines to arc and cut electricity to nearly 2,000 utility customers.

A wind advisory ended at 9 a.m. Tuesday along the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the interior of Western Washington from Everett northward, said the National Weather Service.

Most of the power outages affecting Puget Sound Energy customers were in Ferndale, where a limb fell across power lines. PSE spokesman Andy Wappler said there were other scattered outages in Kitsap, Skagit and Island counties, and crews quickly restored service in most areas.

In Seattle's Wedgewood neighborhood, KIRO 7 cameras caught images of sparks coming from arcing wires.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Meteorologist Rick VanCise said winds will calm this afternoon, leaving sunbreaks, showers and cooler temperatures.

A Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service stays in place until 6 p.m. for north Cascades snow that could bring up to 6 inches above 4,000 feet today.
