Fleming´s Prime Steakhouse & Wine BarIt's hard to decide what is the best part of Fleming's. There's a choice of 100 wines by the glass for every palate, and excellent service. The steaks are enormous, and the tasty side dishes are large enough to share. The atmosphere is comfortable, especially if you're sitting in a plush booth, surrounded by gleaming, polished woodwork and soft lighting.

Co-owner Paul Fleming hails from Louisiana, which might have something to do with the ambiance that he and his partner, Bill Allen, created here, and at other Fleming's in California and Arizona. Fleming founded the P.F. Chang's chain and was once a major player in the Ruth's Chris steak restaurants. But Fleming's is more inviting and appealing than Ruth's Chris, and better yet, less expensive.

Fleming's is one of the favorite restaurants of Mariners' skipper, Lou Piniella, who has frequently been heard raving about the wide selection of wines to enjoy with appetizers, a salad and the main course.

Food: Enormous steaks, all prime grade. Veal chops with bearnaise, pork chops, lamb chops, one chicken dish, swordfish, salmon and a nod to seafood in the formof crab legs, lobster tails and a superb tuna mignon. Plenty of vegetable sides, including creamed spinach and a delicious offering of shitake, oyster and Portobello mushrooms.

Wine and Beverages: Full bar, wine and beer. One hundred wines by the glass. Excellent martinis.

Value: Above-average, considering that the vegetables and potatoes are all a la carte. Compared to other classy steakhouses in the area, this one is a bargain.Downtown Seattle$25-501001 Third AveSeattleWA98104206 587 5300Sun-Thu: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
