Light Hydros Train On Lake Washington

UPDATED: 1:18 pm PDT June 19, 2008

The waters of Lake Washington were busy Thursday as boats from the Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association held their annual spring training test session.

Five unlimited light hydroplanes, three lighter than lights teams and two vintage hydroplanes practiced from the Stan Sayres Pit area for three hours.

ULHRA said that 19-year-old Kayleigh Perkins of Black Diamond led the session driving the UL-72 Miss Boat Electric.

Perkins became the first woman to win in unlimited light’s racing in 2007 and was also named Rookie of the Year.

Perkins, along with the rest of the attending ULHRA fleet, is preparing for the season opener for ULHRA teams April 25-27 in Pheonix.
