Complete Blue Angels SectionFor many in the Puget Sound, summer officially reaches its zenith when the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels roar into Seattle's skies. The extraordinary flying of the six-plane flight demonstration squadron and exhilarating civilian and military acts are the grand finale of the 5 week Seafair festival. The Air Show lineup features a variety of civilian and military acts to thrill Lake Washington audiences. The show over Lake Washington during Seafair is unique. While nearly all of the Blue Angels' stops on the 2009 schedule take place over an airstrip, the Seattle stop offers a spectacular venue above water with Mt. Rainier as a backdrop. The hilly landscape of Seattle provides cover as the solo pilots bring their F/A-18 Hornets from out of nowhere toward the aerobatic box in the middle of the lake. These high-speed passes at centerpoint bring roars from the crowd along the shoreline and goose bumps to the thousands of boaters affixed to the logboom. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels return to the skies, July 31 to August 2. The precision and creativity of the six pilots behind the yokes of the Boeing F/A-18 Hornets make the group one of the most recognized in the sky. Graceful solo performances, the four-plane diamond and six-plane delta formations are just a few of the aerobatic maneuvers these talented pilots perform. Flying every year since 1972, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels continue to serve as positive role models and goodwill ambassadors for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.T-6A Texans take over the Seafair skies
Straight from the United States Air Force and their First Assignment Instructor Pilot (FAIP) program based in Enid, Oklahoma, the T-6A team will be lead by Captain Max Harrell from Florida, FAIP Captain Dave Beylund from North Dakota and FAIP Captain Shane Sirianni from Pennsylvania. The T-6A "Texan II" is powered by a 1100 shaft horsepower and has a maximum speed of 316 KIAS (knots indicated airspeed).T-33 brings blue skies with a fast plane
