Carson, CA -- (Sports Network) - For 88 minutes it looked like the Major League Soccer fixture between the San Jose Earthquakes and Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center would end in a 0-0 tie. However, an Ante Razov free kick goal two minutes from time ensured the goats that they would earn the full points. The 1-0 win was the just the home side's second victory in its last five games, but it was enough to pull the club even with its Los Angeles counterpart, the Galaxy, for the top spot in the Western conference table. San Jose, on the other hand, remains winless in five league fixtures and sinks deeper into the Western basement with the latest loss. The Quakes are currently nine points back of the Western leaders and 21 points back of the league leaders. Razov's goal came from about 30 yards out and was perfectly placed in the far post side netting, giving goalkeeper Joe Cannon non chance at making the save. San Jose (3-9-30 will aim to rebound next Saturday when it hosts Colorado while Chivas USA (6-6-1) plays the Galaxy in a battle for first place on Thursday.
