Daniel Cabrera (2-0) threw eight brilliant innings of five-hit ball, yielding only two runs, to improve to 6-1 lifetime against Seattle. George Sherrill improved to 7-for-7 in save opportunities this season. "I think Jim Palmer hit it on the head, success breads confidence, and I think for the first time in his career Cabrera believes he can do it," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said. Raul Ibanez finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Mariners, who saw their two- game win streak come to an end. Jose Vidro brought the other Seattle run home. Mariners starter Carlos Silva was touched for two runs on six hits over six innings in a no-decision. Ryan Rowland-Smith (0-1) absorbed the loss by giving up a run in one inning of work. Rowland-Smith replaced Sean Green on the mound in the eighth, and his first offering was taken over the fence in right field by Markakis, putting Baltimore up 3-2 heading to the home eighth. "You always say, if he (Cabrera) ever figures it out and puts it together like he did tonight, he's tough to beat," Sexson said. "He didn't have to throw that many off-speed stuff with as much movement as he had on his fastball. Their guy just did a heck of a job today." An Ibanez sac fly scored Ichiro Suzuki, as the Mariners took a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Jose Lopez, Ibanez and Beltre each had singles to begin the fourth, and the bases were loaded. Vidro followed with an RBI groundout that put the M's up 2-0. Baltimore rallied in the sixth, as Brian Roberts led off with a single and Mora plated him with a triple. Markakis then delivered an RBI groundout to tie the game. The Orioles made a bid for more runs in the seventh, as Aubrey Huff walked.
