Pistons Deal White To Sonics

New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Detroit selected Indiana University forward D.J. White with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the NBA Draft, but then traded him to Seattle for a pair of second-rounders.White headed to the SuperSonics for the rights to the 32nd and 46th picks. The 32nd selection was Alabama-Birmingham forward Walter Sharpe and the 46th pick was Brigham Young forward Trent Plaisted. White ended his career as Indiana's 16th all-time leading scorer with 1,447 points. He finished second in career field goal percentage (.562) at Indiana and became only the second Hoosier in the last 31 years to average a double- double, recording 17.4 ppg and 10.3 rpg as a senior. Sharpe played in 12 games last season, averaging 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, while Plaisted averaged 15.6 points and 7.7 boards last year.
