Ducks Sign D Eminger To Two-Year Deal

Posted: 3:41 pm PDT September 4, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks signed defenseman Steve Eminger to a two-year contract on Friday.

Financial details were not disclosed, per team policy.

"Steve Eminger brings a physical presence to our blueline and is very capable offensively," said Ducks general manager Bob Murray. "Being only 25 years old, we expect him to continue improving as a player and make a solid contribution this season."

Eminger bounced around during the 2008-09 campaign, starting the season with Philadelphia before being dealt to Tampa Bay and then Florida. In 12 games for the Flyers, 50 with the Lightning and nine with the Panthers, the blueliner totaled five goals and 21 assists with a minus-three rating.

The Woodbridge, Ontario, native was taken with the 12th overall pick in the 2002 NHL Draft by Washington and played for the Capitals from 2002 until he was acquired by the Flyers in 2008.

In 283 career games, Eminger has tallied 11 goals and 58 helpers.
