Los Angeles Clippers (0-2) At Utah Jazz (0-1), 9 P.M.

(Sports Network) - Two teams hoping to capture their first wins of the 2009-10 NBA season clash in Salt Lake City Friday as the Utah Jazz play host to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Jazz have absolutely dominated the Clippers in Salt Lake winning 12 straight and 38 of the last 39 games between the two clubs. Los Angeles' last win at Utah was a 96-89 triumph on Jan. 22, 2003.

The Jazz dropped their opener in the Rocky Mountains Wednesday when Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and rookie Ty Lawson factored big into a dominating fourth quarter for the Nuggets, as Denver opened its season with a 114-105 win over Utah.

The Nuggets hit 13-of-22 shots in the fourth quarter compared to 7-of-25 for the Jazz, who are coming off a third straight trip to the postseason but were eliminated in five games by the Lakers in the opening round.

Deron Williams led all five Utah starters in double figures with 28 points and also had 13 assists. Ronnie Brewer and Andrei Kirilenko each finished with 16 points, and Carlos Boozer ended with 12 points and 11 boards.

Utah center Mehmet Okur hurt his left foot just 24 seconds into the game after being plowed into by Nene. Okur came back into the game after a short respite and finished with 13 points.

The Clippers, meanwhile, have been competitive but dropped their second straight game in LA on Wednesday. Phoenix's Steve Nash sank a layup with 5.5 seconds left, moments after Rasual Butler hit a game-tying three-pointer in that one to give the Suns a 109-107 win over the Clippers in their season- opener.

Nash finished with 24 points, 15 of which came in the fourth quarter, and his biggest shot was a left-handed layup in the waning moments of a close game.

The Suns' Leandro Barbosa drained a three-pointer with 23 seconds left, and on the other end, Butler connected on a three from the top of the arc with 11.9 to play, making it a 107-107 game.

Nash had the ball on Phoenix's ensuing possession, and a fairly wide-open lane developed on the left side. The point guard drove through it, sinking a high- arcing left-hander to put the Suns back on top.

The Clippers still had one chance, but Eric Gordon missed the long three-point attempt as the Suns sealed the win in their first game of the 2009-10 campaign.

"I told our guys we played hard and did a lot of good things, but we missed some easy shots," Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said. "Steve Nash is a two-time MVP, he was slicing and dicing us in the fourth quarter. You have to tip your cap to him, he's a great player."

Marcus Camby had 23 points and 11 boards for the Clippers, who were playing in their home-opener, having already begun the season with a loss to the Lakers on Tuesday.

Chris Kaman added 22 points and nine rebounds, while Butler ended with 19 points off the bench. Baron Davis contributed 12 points and 12 assists in the setback.

LA continues to play without No. 1 overall draft pick Blake Griffin, who is out for up to six weeks with a broken left kneecap.
