Portland Trail Blazers (8-3) At Atlanta Hawks (8-2), 7 P.M.
(Sports Network) - A pair of talented young teams put their respective winning streaks on the line tonight, when the streaking Portland Trail Blazers pay a visit to the surging Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena. Portland has ripped off six straight wins and owns a half-game lead over Denver atop the Northwest Division. It will also try to wrap up a perfect five-game road trip this evening after improving to 4-0 on the swing with Saturday's 80-74 victory at Charlotte. Budding star Brandon Roy led the way with 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while veteran Andre Miller added 15 points and six boards. LaMarcus Aldridge had 11 points and seven rebounds for Portland, which is 5-1 away from the Rose Garden this season. Blazers forward Travis Outlaw left the game in the first quarter with a foot injury and is expected to miss significant time. While the Blazers are making noise in the Northwest, the Hawks are leaving their mark in the Southeast with four straight wins and a half-game edge over Miami in the division standings. Atlanta opened a four-game homestand with Saturday's 121-98 victory over the New Orleans Hornets, as Joe Johnson netted a game-high 26 points and Jamal Crawford had 21 off the bench to help the Hawks to their fourth win in a row and a 4-0 record as the host. "We just didn't want to come out and have a letdown," Crawford said. "We came out a little slow at first, and our bench had to pick it up a little bit." Josh Smith added 17 points and 17 rebounds for Atlanta, which has beaten the likes of Denver and Boston during its winning streak. The Hawks will also host the Heat and Rockets on the current residency. Atlanta is aiming for its second win of 2009-10 and third straight against the Trail Blazers after beating them, 97-91, on November 3 this season at the Rose Garden. Portland, though, is 13-3 in the past 16 matchups between the teams, and has won eight of the previous 11 contests as the guest in this series.
