'Big Unit' Among Three More To File For Free Agency

Posted: 2:56 pm PST November 16, 2009

(Sports Network) - Randy Johnson was among three MLB players to file for free agency on Monday.

Joining him were Cincinnati Reds pitcher Kip Wells and Chicago Cubs reliever John Grabow.

Johnson, 46, became the 24th pitcher in major league history to amass 300 career wins this past season. The intimidating left-hander started in 17 of his 22 appearances with the Giants, going 8-6 with a 4.88 earned run average. He missed a significant time with a tear in his rotator cuff.

The veteran of 22 major-league seasons ranks second on the all-time strikeout list (4,875) and has a career mark of 303-166 with a 3.29 ERA while playing for the Expos, Mariners, Astros, Diamondbacks, Yankees and Giants.

Wells went 2-5 last year with a 5.33 ERA in a combined 33 appearances -- seven starts -- for Cincinnati and Washington.

Grabow went 3-0 with a 3.36 ERA in 75 bullpen appearances while splitting time in Pittsburgh and Chicago in 2009.

Eligible players have three more days to file for free agency.
