Struggling Sixers Carry Skid Into Dallas

(Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers will face a difficult task trying to end their current losing streak Monday night, when they match up against the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center.

Philadelphia has dropped a season-high six straight contests and opened a four-game road trip with Sunday's 97-89 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center. Andre Iguodala ended with 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Sixers, who have lost five in a row on the road and eight of nine overall.

Samuel Dalembert had 14 points and 14 boards in the setback, while Willie Green and Thaddeus Young scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, in defeat. The Sixers played their third consecutive game without forward Elton Brand, who is listed as questionable for tonight.

"We're still trying to find ways to close out games," 76ers head coach Eddie Jordan said. "I've got a job to do to get the right guys on the floor and make the right adjustments. We've got to keep people out of the middle and I have to keep emphasizing to close out on the three-point shooters. It's just work from our coaching staff. We just have to do it. The players gave great effort. They followed the game plan."

There have been rumors circulating that former Sixers guard Allen Iverson may return to the City of Brotherly Love. The recently-retired future Hall of Famer spent an often turbulent 10-plus seasons with a franchise that made him the No. 1 overall pick in 1996.

Philadelphia will also visit Oklahoma City and Charlotte on the trek, and is 2-7 as the visitor this season.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks lead the Southwest Division by two games over the Spurs, but are coming off Saturday's 111-95 loss to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. James had 25 points, 12 assists and five rebounds to burn the Mavs, who entered the game on a two-game win streak and with seven victories over the past eight games.

Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points and nine boards to pace Dallas, which fell to 12-5 on the season. Jason Terry recorded 25 points off the bench and Shawn Marion netted 12 in a losing cause.

"We were better in the second half, but when we got some stops we weren't able to convert on offense," said Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle. "Our undoing was the first half, when we really just didn't do the job we needed to defensively."

The Mavericks will try to work on their 5-2 home record tonight against a Sixers team they went 2-0 against a season ago. Dallas has won six of seven and 10 of the past 14 meetings with Philly, which is winless in its last four trips to Big D.
