Orioles Agree To Terms With Albers, Meredith

Baltimore, MD -- (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to terms with pitchers Matt Albers and Cla Meredith on one-year contracts.Albers, 26, was 3-6 with a 5.51 earned run average in 56 appearances for the O's last season. The right-handed reliever struck out 49 and walked 36 over 67 innings. Meredith was acquired from San Diego in exchange for Oscar Salazar on July 19 and pitched to a 3.77 ERA in 29 games after the trade. In a a combined 64 games out of the bullpen, the 26-year-old righty was 4-2 with a 3.99 ERA, fanning 37 and walking 25 in 65 1/3 innings. Baltimore also announced it declined to offer a 2010 contract to pitcher Brian Bass. Acquired from Minnesota in September of 2008, the 27-year-old right- hander was 6-3 with a 4.85 ERA in 53 games over the last two seasons for the Orioles.
