Jenni Hogan is the morning traffic anchor on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, guiding viewers through their morning commute and helping them get a head start on their day.
Hogan has lived in the Pacific Northwest for over 10 years and is a proud graduate of the University of Washington with a double degree in Economics and Communications. At the UW, she captained the women’s crew team and has two national championship rings in the sport.
Jenni has appeared on National TV, as a correspondent on CBS’s “Fashion Night Out 2010″ where she did red carpet “traffic” reporting. She also dabbles in sports reporting every year during the Seafair broadcasts on KIRO 7 where she is one of the Pit Reporters for the hydroplane races. She was honored to wear her husky purple in 2011 as the Windermere Cup play by play announcer, covering a race she had rowed in four times for the University of Washington as a past athlete.
This Australian native is passionate about connecting with viewers online. She is currently the most followed local TV anchor on Twitter in the nation, at #1 in the lostremote.com leaderboard with more than 37,000 followers. In 2011 she was named one of 6 finalist worldwide in the Shorty Awards, the “Oscars” of Twitter and she was named Top Twitter Personality in the Seattle NBC affiliate’s Best Of Western Washington awards in 2010, voted on by the consumer.
Jenni uses her online platform to empower her followers to better themselves or help others. In December 2010, she hosted KIRO-TV’s first Mobile Tweetup to collect toys to make kids smile over the Holiday season. The drive exceeded expectations filling 2 vans full of toys in the 4 hours that was all livestreamed right here on KIROtv.com. Jenni held the 2nd Mobile Tweetup in March 2011 to collect donations for babies. That drive garnered more than 25,000 items for Northwest Harvest’s baby days. In August 2011, she hosted the 3rd Mobile Tweetup which raised more than $8500 for the Moyer Foundation and early cancer detection research.
Jenni is passionate about paying it forward and sits on the Board of Directors for both the Miss Seattle Organization and spent the last several years on the UW Communication Alumni Board where she headed their mentorship program.
In her spare time, Jenni loves hanging out with her husband Josh and their daughter Siena. She launched Mission Hot Mama in May 2011, a magazine style blog to help inspire other mothers to reach for the stars and enjoys interacting with that online community that she describes as “mothers that inspire her”.
