E-mail ChrisChris Egert joined the KIRO 7 Eyewitness News team in June of 2007, as the weekend co-anchor.Chris comes to KIRO and the Pacific Northwest via WFTV and WRDQ in Orlando, FL, where he anchored the 10 p.m. news and won several awards from the Associated Press for his field reporting and spot news coverage.Chris was on the anchor desk for the crash of the Space Shuttle Columbia, and live in the field for Florida's historic hurricane season of 2004. In his career, which began in his home state of South Dakota, Chris has interviewed newsmakers Al Gore and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. He has traveled nationally to cover President Clinton's inauguration and internationally for the War on Terror.It is important to Chris to be involved in the communities he covers. Locally, he’s been involved with the March of Dimes, March for Babies campaign – been a former board member of Easter Seals – and produced a concert to benefit victims of a tornado on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.Chris is a former college basketball player, but these days you are more likely to find him pushing the tandem stroller around Seattle’s Greenlake park.He and his wife, a former Emmy-winning news producer, are blessed with two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. Chris considers his family his greatest accomplishment.
