Gulstan Dart

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Anchor

Award-winning journalist Gulstan Dart co-anchors KIRO 7's morning and noon newscasts Monday through Friday. He also co-anchors the KIRO 7 live webcast at 7 a.m. every weekday.

Gulstan has been with the KIRO 7 Eyewitness News team since 2003. Before that, he co-anchored the 5 p.m. award-winning and top-rated newscast at sister station WSB-TV in Atlanta. Prior to diving back into local news, Gulstan reported from the scene of major stories at MSNBC as a news show host and news anchor. His duties also crossed over to the network, where he was the newsreader for NBC’s Weekend Today Show and contributed to NBC Weekend Nightly News. Through the years, he developed an important connection to the Pacific Northwest as an anchor and reporter at the NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregon and Medford, Oregon. He has been on the front line of national breaking news: forest fires in Oregon and Florida, hurricanes and national politics.

Gulstan has won Regional Emmy Awards for investigative reporting and writing. He has also won other AP awards for reporting and spot news coverage.

Gulstan gives back to our community by supporting a variety of charities. One in particular, the March of Dimes, is near and dear to his heart: he and his wife lost a child to a birth defect in 1998. In 2006, he was honorary chairman for the organization. Gulstan also supports the annual Children’s Ride, a biker rally that benefits the $64 million uncompensated care program at Children’s Hospital.

He also helps raise funds and awareness for the Rotary Club, Lupus Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association and Highline Community College. Gulstan is a past board member of the Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Clubs.

As the first person in his family to graduate from college, Gulstan talks to students about his career path and gives them the encouragement to succeed in school and life.

Gulstan is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington. He is married with three children and two rescued pugs. He enjoys hiking, water sports, astronomy, reading biographies and downtime with his family.
