SEATTLE -- The Transportation Department has prepared computer simulations of the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge breaking apart in a big earthquake or a windstorm.

VIDEO: WSDOT Simulation Of 520 Bridge Failing In Windstorm Transportation Secretary Doug McDonald said the department created the video to demonstrate how vulnerable the bridge is and why it needs replacing. The Seattle City Council is scheduled to vote April 16 on its priorities for a new Evergreen Point Floating Bridge. Items in a resolution discussed on Wednesday include a lid over Highway 520 to create a greenbelt from Montlake Boulevard near the University of Washington to the Washington Park Arboretum.
