A new $4 billion Evergreen Point Floating bridge could be paid for with a $3 toll each way under a highway improvement plan on November's ballot.

The toll would help close the gap between existing federal and state funding and the total cost to replace the bridge.

The Regional Transportation Investment district -- made up of council members from Pierce, King and Snohomish counties -- is expected to approve a multibillion-dollar package Thursday that voters would have to approve in November.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the toll could generate $1.2 billion. State funds, federal grants and a car-tab tax would also help pay for the project.
