A Tacoma police motorcycle officer has been involved in a collision with a semi-truck in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Tacoma.

Two motorcycle officers were helping the driver of a disabled vehicle when they put on flashing lights and slowed to a stop. A truck that couldn't slow down clipped one of the motorcycles, said Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum.

Fulghum said the officer is "fine." He was taken by patrol car to St. Joseph Medical Center and was not complaining of any injuries.

Transportation Department officials said the crash was in the gore on southbound I-5 at the SR 16 interchange. It blocked the right lane on I-5 and the left lane of the I-5 off-ramp to SR 16 and 38th Street in Tacoma.
