Bellingham, WASH. -- A rolled over logging truck blocked the northbound direction of SR 9 for more than three hours Tuesday morning. Just after 7 a.m. the truck entered a curve by Wickersham Road near Bellingham, rolled onto its side and spilled its load. State Route 9 was described by the Washington State Patrol Trooper on scene as a "solid polished icy condition"."The road in that area was so slick that when the first trooper arrived to investigate the collision, he put his car in park and it began to slide sideways," said Trooper Keith Leary, WSP.The driver of the Log truck, a 26 year old male from Everson, told Troopers he was traveling at 30 miles per hour or less as he recognized the road conditions were becoming poor. According to the witness and driver, he felt the “slipping” off the road so began to steer but the truck did not react due to very icy road conditions.Crews alternated one-way traffic through the area during the time of the closure while the truck and logs were removed piece by piece. All lanes re-opened just after 10:30am.
