Hogan's Blog: Wednesday Morning Commute

Happy Wednesday! It's another morning of mixed road conditions. Some areas were bare and dry, others were seeing rain and puddles on their drive in.

Here are the things that may have slowed you down Wednesday morning:

Alert: Another incident on I-5 south, this one is blocking the middle lane. It looks like a disabled vehicle. Wow, the I-5 southbound commute is a struggle. It's backed up and travel times are slow. TIME: 6:50am

Alert: An accident on the Ne 130th St ramp to I-5 south TIME: 6:40am

Alert: South I-5 just south of the Convention center a 3 car accident. Expect delays in the express lane. TIME: 6:41am

Alert: SR 204 on ramp to SR 2 an accident is over on the right shoulder. TIME: 6:20am

Alert: I-5 southbound at Northgate a car was spun out in the center lane at 6am. It has been cleared to the shoulder, and looks like a mutiple vehicle collision as there are several cars on the shoulder. Traffic is stop and go from the county line.

Alert: I-5 southbound unusual slowing as you approach Southcenter. Chopper 7 is heading out to investigate. Clark found everything is ok.

Slowing Alert: Eastbound SR 16 traffic is backed up for two miles approaching Interstate 5, from Orchard/19th Street to Union Avenue TIME: 6:50am

Alert: Whit Whooooo construction has wrapped up on I-5 through Northgate for the night. All lanes open, enjoy the new pavement as you drive over it TIME: 5:00am

Alert: Expect lots of flashing lights around 8000 North Mercer Way. Single vehicle accident with lots of police on scene. It's a distraction. TIME: 4:40am

Alert: Watch out for a disabled vehicle blocking a lane on EB 520 just east of West Lake Sammamish Pkwy. TIME: 4:35am

Overnight construction: I-5 at 145th a few lanes blocked, no delays should be wrapped up by 5am

Rain is moving Seattle south. Wet roadways from Seatac down south this morning on I-5, also wet on 405 in Renton and on 167 Puyallup to Renton.

Fog Patrol: We are constantly checking the DOT cameras for fog. Things are looking good.

Construction Alert: I-90 all lanes closed WB - Overnight work, Nightly on I-90 westbound at I-405 starting 10:00 PM, 03/02/09 until 5:00 AM, 03/06/09 on Weekdays UPDATE: Wednesday morning it is open now. Up to 2 lanes closed EB.

Traffic engineers begin testing new westbound I-90 electronic speed limit signs on Monday westbound shoulders of I-90 between I-405 and I-5

Everett launched metered ramps this week. 9 new meters will light up. This is hopefully going to make for a smoother commute. The new ramp meters will be at the following locations: Everett Mall Way and SR 526 to northbound I-5, SR 527 (Bothell-Everett Hwy) to northbound I-5, Broadway to southbound I-5, 41st Street to northbound and southbound I-5, Pacific Avenue to southbound I-5, Everett Avenue to northbound I-5, US 2 to northbound I-5, Marine View Drive to southbound I-5.

Expect Delays: King County Metro Transit and Sound Transit express bus service going through the SODO area could see delays. 17 routes will be affected Southbound NOT Northbound. All of the affected routes will miss stops on the busway, Spokane Street, or Fourth Avenue South.

Construction Alert: SR 16 - Eastbound lanes have shifted toward the median between Union Avenue and the Nalley Valley viaduct. The on- and off-ramps connecting Sprague Avenue and eastbound SR 16 are closed until 2011.

Construction Alert: SR 526 at Casino Rd. There is one lane eastbound until 6am.
