SEATTLE -- High winds forecast for Monday night may mean rough seas and likely cancelations of the Lofall-South Point water shuttle route across the Hood Canal, said Jamie Swift of Washington Department of Transportation Communications.Based on current forecasts, shuttle service could be cancelled as early as 9 p.m., Swift said. The primary route across the canal is closed for six-weeks for a construction project. If the canal is deemed too dangerous for the shuttle to cross this evening, WSDOT will provide bus service around the canal via US 101 and State Route 3. There will be one stop in Shelton, where services will be available and riders will switch buses and continue their trips to the park-and-ride lots, Swift said. The bus ride will be more than three hours. Those who rely on the water shuttle and need more information should call 1-877-595-4222.
