Driver Fighting Narrows Bridge Toll Ticket

A Port Angeles man is fighting a ticket he got for failing to pay the toll on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

Doug Nevill was nailed with a $52 ticket when he drove through a Good to Go pass lane instead of one where he could have paid cash.

Nevill said he doesn't object to the tolls, but he thinks there aren't enough signs showing drivers which lane to get into at the toll plaza.

"I do have attorneys … (who) are doing an investigation to see if there is legal ground for a lawsuit," Nevill told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The Department of Transportation said there are 40 signs warning drivers about the toll as they approach the narrows.

And they point out that only about one percent of the drivers who cross the bridge skip the toll.
