KING COUNTY, Wash. — Police say the driver of a stolen vehicle who refused to pull over for a traffic stop caused a crash near Renton.

Renton police said that shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday, an officer saw someone wearing what appeared to be a ski mask get out of a silver Toyota in the 300 block of Rainier Avenue. The officer ran the Toyota's license plate and the car came back as stolen.
The officer caught up with the car at Grady Way and Talbot and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver took off at a high rate of speed.
The officer continued to follow the driver at normal speeds as the Toyota headed south on Benson Drive South. As the officer came around the corner, they saw the suspect in the Toyota collide with Subaru in the 17200 block of Benson in the Cascade-Fairwood area.
The driver of the stolen car, a woman about 20 years old, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with significant injuries. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
All northbound lanes of Benson were closed while officers investigated.
