Pike Place Market
If Seattle Center is Seattle's soul, the Science Center its brain and the highways its (clogged?) arteries, then Pike Place Market must be Seattle's heart. Always in motion, always thriving and without it a large part of the Emerald City would surely be dead. The 93-year-old market is a wonderful maze of booths, stores, grocers, artists, a bronze pig, and much more. Sightseeing tourists bustle with locals. Fresh-cut flowers for sale are strung from walls, handmade jewelry is hocked and fish thrown, while street musicians with home-made instruments sing to the crowds.Three floors house everything from vegetables to vintage posters, used book stores to movie trinkets. You can take in a comedy show, watch the boats go by or grab a fresh-brewed beer at Pike Pub and BreweryHours:Official hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., but individual shop hours vary. Some restaurants, bakeries, fish markets and farmers are open earlier, while several restaurants are open into the late evenings.Official Website: http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/
