Northwest Trek Wildlife Park
At 614 acres, this finely landscaped wildlife preserve features one of Northwest's best collections of animals in a beautifully natural environment. Visitors can tour on foot to see bears, big cats, wolves, owls, eagles and more, or take a tram tour of the park's more expansive sections. From the tram, bison, caribou, moose, mountain goats and other variety of woodland animals can be viewed in a serene, larger setting.
Details: Northwest Trek is open all year, with tours leaving every hour starting at 10 a.m. The park opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at varying times between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. depending on the month. Admission is $8.75 for adults, $8.25 for seniors, $6 for youths (5-17), $4.00 for "Tots" (3-4) and free for children under 3.
Discounts: If you want to forego the tram tour and take only a (self-guided) walking tour through the park, admission is half price. Pierce County residents with I.D. and AAA members receive a 15% discount, and Zoo Society members of Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium receive a 20% discount. School groups and groups of 15 or more can also receive special rates.
