Reward Offered For 'Capt. Jack Sparrow' Burglar

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A Lakewood coffee shop owner who added a "Capt. Jack Sparrow" twist to surveillance video of an attempted break-in is hoping someone will recognize the bandana-clad, would-be burglar.The video shows a man trying to kick down a door and smash windows to get inside Perk Central Coffee on Nov. 16, 2007 at about 2 a.m.After seeing the surveillance video from the burglary attempt, the cafe's owner decided to edit a version with homemade narration by "Capt. Jack Sparrow." The would-be burglar resembles the character from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies."I am Captain Jack Sparrow, the infamous coffee shop burglar," the narrator says, evoking Johnny Depp's accent in his portrayal of the pirate.

"I will come to your town and rid you of your white chocolates and your lattes and your mochas," the narrator says, as a goateed man wearing a bandana and a trench coat walks into the frame.The video shows the man using his hands and elbow to try to smash windows and his foot to kick in a door at the coffee shop at South Tacoma Way and Steilacoom Boulevard.The video ends with the man writhing in pain after he runs into the coffee shop's door with his foot extended.The shop's owner is offering a $200 reward for information leading to the man's arrest. Crimestoppers of Tacoma/Pierce County is offering a $1,000 reward in the case. Crimestoppers' number is 253-591-5959.
