Although she's dabbled in comedy and drama, Katie Holmes has a soft spot for big-screen thrillers. Thankfully after more than a decade of starring in scary movies that were a little light on the scares ('Disturbing Behavior,' 'Abandon,' 'The Gift'), Holmes has finally made a movie that will keep you up at night! No big shock, considering it comes from the brilliant mind of Guillermo del Toro, who's been making audiences jump ever since 1997's underrated monster movie, 'Mimic.'
In the August 26 release, Holmes plays Kim, a stepmother who is pushed to the breaking point when her family's new home turns out to have a very old secret and a couple of inhabitants dead set on reclaiming their residence. The edge of your seat thrill ride co-stars Guy Pearce and 'Just Go With It' breakout star Bailee Madison as the young girl who first catches on to the house's hidden horrors.
