Rainfall totals by Wednesday night

Widespread rainfall is forecast for Western Washington on Wednesday as a large area of low pressure moves southeast out of the Aleutians.

This low will swing a front into the area tomorrow and ahead of this front during the day, expect widespread rainfall.

The heaviest rainfall in the morning hours will be along the coast where winds will be on the gusty side during the day.  Heavier rains pick up around the Puget Sound by afternoon and lasting into the evening.

The threat for lightning and small hail are low, but we'll watch out around stronger cells.  Heavier downpours will also be accompanied by locally breezy winds.

Rainfall amounts could total between one-half and one inch in many areas by Wednesday night.

Showers taper with hope for next weekend

Thursday will feature passing showers and cool afternoon highs in the mid-to-upper 50s.  By Friday, expect a bit more sunshine but still a few showers and a cool afternoon.

Forecast models don't indicate a sure-fire nice weekend to come, but we're hopeful that Saturday will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine with coastal showers and highs near 60.

Sunday looks like the better of the two weekend days with more sunshine, only an extremely remote rain chance and highs rising into the middle 60s in some areas.

Meanwhile, break out the rain coats for the next few days!
