SKYKOMISH, Wash. -- A fire burned inside a wall of the Skykomish Hotel Friday, causing $100,000 in damage to the historic building, said Cate Riley a representative for the hotel. The fire was confined to the rear of the hotel building, but smoke damage was extensive throughout, Riley said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but firefighters believe said an overheated appliance started the fire just before 11 a.m.Riley said the fire may have started when a ceiling light fixture became dislodged from pounding efforts associated with contractor activities, as part of the ongoing environmental cleanup efforts in the town.No one was hurt.
