1 dead in crash on NB I-5 express lanes

SEATTLE — A driver died in a crash on the northbound I-5 express lanes at the Lake City Way exit ramp Friday evening in Seattle.

The car was traveling off the ramp into the express lanes when it went over a barrier, troopers said.

Troopers said the driver was going too fast for the conditions when their car struck a left side guardrail, partially ejecting them and then struck a guardrail on the right side, closing the express lanes.

The driver was declared deceased at the scene.

The express lanes were closed for some time while troopers investigated.
