The Sky Valley Lookout is 2.4 miles up the trail from the Wallace Falls State Park parking lot.
Search crews originally arrived at the scene and located the victim, but could not attempt a rescue because of treacherous terrain.
SnoHAWK 10 was able to lower rescuers to the scene and later transported the body to Taylor's Landing, where it was turned over to the Snohomish County medical examiner's office.
Fire District 26 personnel were able to rescue the family's dog which had also fallen over the embankment.
